Ruth Todd Goree Lewis, born in Toxey, Alabama February 18, 1926 passed away on January 15, 2017 at Rush Hospital in Meridian, MS. She was a resident of Quitman for most of her life.
Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 5 sisters, and husbands, James R. Goree and Alvie Lewis.
She is survived by her children, Glenda (Mickey) Sellers, Sue (Travis) Stewart, Gwen (Hanson) Steverson, David (Denise) Goree, Jean (Doyle) Davis, and Neal (Diane) Lewis, 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Ruth loved working in her garden, cooking for her family and attending church.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2017, 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, 11:00 am at the Wright's Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Michael Boutwell and Mr. Doyle Davis officiating. Burial will take place in the Crossroads Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark McKelvaine, Eddie Bo Morris, Mark Norris, Jody Steen, Dusty Braddock, Matt Hendrix, Phillip Mosley, and Mark Stewart.
