Kutzer, Josephine Mahler
age 92, passed away from heart complications Mar. 12 at the North Ridge Care Center in New Hope, MN, surrounded by her immediate family and care givers. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Cornelia; three brothers, Enuel, John, and Osborne; three sisters, Elsie, Naomi, and Kathleen all of North Carolina; and former husband, Winferd, of Arizona.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia, son-in-law John of Mpls.; nieces, Marvel, Edna, Louise, Peggy, Kathy, and JoAnn of North Carolina, Alabama, and Georgia, also by nephews, Harold, Brooks, Wilton, John Carson, Howard, Phil, and Jerry, and nieces and nephews by adoption, Lily, Ann, and James, all of North Carolina.

Josephine earned degrees in history, mathematics, and science in 1935 and taught high school in North Carolina for ten years prior to marriage. She continued to teach in the Oregon and Virginia Public Schools until 1962. Her love of learning was evident throughout her long life.

The family wishes to thank the staff at North Ridge for their compassionate care in her last years as she struggled to recover from a heart attack and surgery. Memorials preferred to any institution of higher education or The American Heart Association. Services will be held June 24, 2006, at Blackmon's Grove Baptist Church in Four Oaks, NC.
