Gerald J Johnson, 91, died on January 10, 2017 at his home in Perkins, Oklahoma. Gerald was born on December 31, 1925, to Hite and Lillie Johnson in Pocahantas, Arkansas.

He moved to Tryon, Oklahoma when he was 3 years old. He attended Sandyland School and graduated from Tryon High School in 1943. On August 19, 1944, he married Kathleen Pearl Kelley with Reverend Herschel Jones officiating the marriage. Gerald and Kathleen farmed and raised cattle for many years later he worked in the oilfield mainly in Anadarko basin area from Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Shamrock, Texas. Gerald worked many positions in the oilfield from Roughneck to Driller to a Tool Pusher and then a Drilling Superintendent.

After he retired from Unit Drilling and Exploration, Gerald and Kathleen moved back to their home, Circle J Ranch, North of Tryon, Oklahoma where they had a cattle operation. They bought a home in Perkins in 1992 which they named Eden and still live there today. They continued the cattle operation for several years.

Gerald and Kathleen enjoyed being with their family and friends, traveling, swimming, and listening to music at the Perkins Senior Citizens Center. Gerald loved to raise cattle, listen to the news and keep things “shipshape” and having coffee with the bunch.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Kathleen Johnson; three children, Gerry Dean Johnson and wife, Patty of Perkins, Oklahoma, Larry Joe Johnson and wife, Carissa of Bristow, Oklahoma, Geraldine P Jacob and husband, Larry of Tryon, Oklahoma; Grandchildren; Tammy Stites and husband, Ron of Perkins, Oklahoma, Justin Johnson and wife, Heidi of Marion, South Dakota, Alissa Luetkemeyer and husband, Chris of Thomas, Oklahoma, Kelby Sunarto and husband, Erick of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Great-Grandchildren:, Ally Stites Grantham and husband Tyler Grantham, Carson Stites, Madison Stites, Collier Luetkemeyer, Pearl Luetkemeyer, Kallie Johnson, Kassidie Johnson and Lily Sunarto; Great-Great-Grandson Lincoln Joseph Grantham.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 16, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Perkins, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Tryon Cemetery in Tryon, Oklahoma. Strode Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
