Alonzo Simons, 85

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Alonzo Simons, 85, was born Nov. 8, 1931 and died Jan. 13 at Saint Thomas River Park Hospital following a brief illness.

Mr. Simons was a veteran of the U. S. Army, a former employee with Batesville Casket Company, and a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. He was the son of the late William and Louella "Mayo" Simons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Lafonzo and Willard Simons; and sisters Evelyn King, Catherine Degler, Carolyn West and Betty Moore.

He is survived by wife Dorothy Ruth Simons; son and daughter in law Ricky and Donna Simons of McMinnville; daughter Donna Long of McMinnville; four grandchildren, Kendra Simons, Sarah Blair, Nick Long and Cacy Nelson, all of McMinnville; and two brothers, Billy Simons of Texas and Jerry Simons of Morrison.

Funeral service will be 1:00 P. M. Tuesday in High's Chapel with Nick Pelham officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p. m. 8:00 p. m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a. m. until time of service burial will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery in Grundy County.

Military grave rights will be conducted by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
