Irene Bales

She was born the daughter of the late Thomas Andrew Griggs and Dixie Isom Griggs, on August 20, 1942 in Salem, Arkansas and died January 12, 2017 at her home in Bakersfield, Missouri.

She was united in marriage May 28, 1960 to James Eugene Bales, who preceded her in death April 23, 2004.

She is survived by two children, Ronald Bales and wife Connie, Bakersfield, Missouri and Eric Bales and wife Michelle, West Plains, Missouri; one sister, Lois Marie Griggs Farmer and husband, Fred, Truman, Arkansas; one brother, Thomas Griggs, Jr. and wife, Evelyn, Cabbott, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Kristy Mae Lovorn and husband, Shane, West Plains, Missouri; Alicia Kay Vandiver and husband, Eric, Bakersfield, Missouri; Jenna Marie Wright and husband, Calvin, Sparta, Missouri; Jessica Leighann Bales, West Plains, Missouri, and James Loren Bales, Fort Sill, Oklahoma; five great grandchildren, Savana, Gracie, Emmett, Kaylie, Holley, and one baby on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, James Elmer Griggs, Jerry Wayne Griggs, and Orval Odell Griggs, and two sisters, Juanita Griggs Zemery and Verense Griggs Dillinger.

She attended the Assembly of God Church in Bakersfield, Missouri. She enjoyed crocheting, and loved to read. She really loved spending time on the lake on the pontoon with her grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to MDA and left at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Bakersfield Cemetery, Ozark County, Missouri, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.
