Jerry Hagel, age 75, of Bellevue WA passed away on Nov 7th 2016. On October 6th 1941, a strapping 10lb baby boy came in to this world, born to Clifford and Margaret Hagel of Sykeston, ND. He was raised on a farm outside Sykeston, moved to Carrington where he attended and graduated from Carrington High School in 1959.

Jerry married his high school sweetheart on October 9th 1960 in Carrington ND. Together they moved to Fargo ND, 2 years later they moved back to Carrington where Jerry was employed by Robertson Lumber and Schultz Lumber. He managed a cement plant until 1967 when they moved to Bellevue, WA where he was employed by BMC Lumber.

Jerry was very involved in sports. He was on a bowling league, soft ball team and played golf. After the loss of his lung in 1988 and the devastating loss of his daughter, Jami Sue in 1990 he lost all interest in participating in sports. His interests then turned to enjoying attending all softball games that the boys were involved in and visiting various casinos. Reno was a yearly trip (sometimes more) until he could no longer fly. Jerry's one wish was that one day all of his boys would play on the same softball team with him. A dream in which came true. They also bowled on the same league together. There never was a doubt of his love for his family.

Jerry is survived by 3 children, Randy (and Sheila) Rich (and Kym) Rob, 1 grandson Tyler Sherer, Six sisters Jeanie Unterseher, Colleen Messersmith, Kathy Fernadez, Marla Bahnmiller, Janelle Doerfler, Lori Hagel and Rick Hagel as well as a very special longtime friend, Marvin (Red) Skytland. He is preceded in death by his daughter Jami Sue, and parents Clifford and Margaret Hagel.

Services will be held at Sunset Hills Memorial on November 17th at 11 am. Due to Jerry's love of sports, you are encouraged to wear Seattle sports attire i.e Seahawks, Mariners or Huskies jersey/shirts and jeans.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance or the Humane Society.

The family would like to take this opportunity to give a special thank you to Dr. Goulart and his staff and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance for their care and support for the past 4 years.

A million times we've needed you,
A million times we've cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.
If all the world was ours to give,
We would give it, yes and more,
To see you coming up the steps,
And walking through the door.
To hear your voice and see your smile,
To sit and talk a while,
To be with you that same old way,
Would be our fondest day.
A heart of gold stopped beating,
Two smile eyes closed to rest,
You truly are the best.
We love you.
