James Edward Lawson, 83, of South Charleston, died Thursday, 8 May, 2008 after a long illness. He was a retired truck driver for Kanawha Drug Company, where he had also worked in the warehouse. He was a nine year veteran, having served in three branches of the U.S. Navy. James was a member of the Southwest Church of God, South Charleston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Mamie Turley Lawson, two sisters, Verna Corder and Genevieve Halstead.

James is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Cordelia "Corky" Lawson, three daughters, one son, three sisters, 5 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Tuesday at Good Shepherd Mortuary with the Rev. David McCormick officiating. Burial followed in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
