Betty Lou Bateman, 74, passed away at 7:16 pm Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Willow Care Center in Hannibal.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm Monday, January 16, 2017 at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.

Visitation will be from 12 pm until the time of services Monday, January 16, 2017 at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Betty was born October 28, 1942, in Shelby County, Missouri to Harold W. and Inez Wiley Gulick.

She was married to Milton Ray Bateman on August 31, 1962 in Saverton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2003.

Survivors include two sons, William R. Bateman, Sr., and Michael D. Bateman (Katherine); two daughters, Inez E. Marshall (Richard), and Melinda S. Smallwood; ten grandchildren, seven step grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Also surviving are one niece, one uncle, and several cousins.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Howard Eugene Bateman, and one granddaughter, Alicia Bateman.

Betty previously worked at Motorola. She then worked at Western Printing as a proofreader. Betty later worked as a nurse's aide in the neonatal unit at St. Elizabeth's Hospital.

Betty enjoyed cross stitching and crocheting. She also liked to research genealogy and did this professionally as well. Betty watched soap operas, worked word searches and enjoyed traveling. Over the years Betty loved the time she shared with her pets and with her family.

She was a member of the Saverton-Ilasco Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to James O'Donnell Funeral Home for funeral expenses, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or the Northeast Missouri Humane Society in care of the James O'Donnell Funeral Home .

Pallbearers will be Ray Roland, Travis Bateman, William Bateman, Jr. , Bruce Sims, Michael Karr, and Robert Roland.

Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Smallwood, Tommy Dotson, Ken Mayhew, and Tom Martin.
