Allan was a chief electrical engineer and in 1942 was President of the Allan D Cardwell Mfg Co (a manufacturer of electrical instruments) at 81 Prospect St. Brooklyn. According to his obituary in the Daily News on 22 Oct 1951, he was the inventor of a device to speed stock market tickers.
