This obituary, entitled "The End of a Suffering Life" was published in the Aegis newspaper in July 1893:

"BAGLEY, July 25-- Florence, in the 5th year of her age, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James K. Hamilton, died on the 21st instant and was buried on Sunday last at Friendship M.E. Church. Rev. B.F. Devries conducted the funeral services. The pall bearers were four little boys, Herbert Benson, Albert Moore, Charlie Bagley, and Lewis Colgan.-- Florence was a great sufferer, nearly the whole of her life being passed in convulsions which would draw her body backwards until it seemed she would break in twain. Medicine was inadequate for her relief and it can truthfully be said that not one ray of sunshine entered into the life of the little child of affliction. Mrs. J. Wilson Moore performed on the organ at the church and at the grave Miss Eva Curtiss sang "Beautiful Valley of Eden" in a voice that was clear and musical, thrilling the ears of the hearers with her sweet melody."
