Germaine W. Schroeder, age 89, a resident at the Villa at Felician Village, Manitowoc, died on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.

Germaine was born on January 13, 1927 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Norman Sr. and Edna (Strodthoff) Rank. She was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1945. On August 27, 1949, Germaine married Donald Schroeder at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Prior to her marriage, she was employed in the office at Mirro Aluminum Company in Manitowoc. Germaine was a volunteer at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. She loved listening to Tony Bennett and Big Band music, collecting "Gone with the Wind" plates and "Remember When" articles from the newspaper, old time glamour and movie stars, jitterbugging with her brother Norman and dancing with her husband any chance she could. Germaine also loved making holiday meals, making Christmas cookies and candy, sewing Sequin Christmas decorations and setting up her Christmas Village during the holiday season. Most of all, Germaine's favorite things in life were spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren who meant the world to her.

Survivors include her husband: Donald Schroeder, Manitowoc; two daughters and sons-in-law: Lynn and David Korinek, Mishicot, Lori and Peter Stolz, Manitowoc; two sons: Michael Schroeder, Milwaukee, David Schroeder, Manitowoc; five grandchildren: Olivia (Ingo) Sander, Vienna Austria, Grace Stolz (fiance Cooper Schmidt), Elkhart Lake, Peter "PJ" Stolz, Manitowoc, Tyler Schroeder Stutz and Stephanie Schroeder Stutz, both of West Bend; five sister-in-law: Sue Rank, Manitowoc, Priscilla Schroeder, DePere, Shirley Schroeder, Milwaukee, Nancy Schroeder and Pat Schroeder, both of Manitowoc; one foster daughter: Tammy Pitcher, Billings, MT. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by one son: Stephen Schroeder; two brothers: Norman Rank, Jr. and Curtis Rank; five brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law: Walton and Carol Schroeder, Earl Schroeder, Herald Schroeder, Wayne Schroeder, Richard Schroeder and John Schroeder.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00PM (Noon) on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Blessed Angela Chapel at Felician Village, Manitowoc. Officiating at the services will be Deacon Alan Boeldt with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday morning, January 14, 2017 at the Blessed Angela Chapel at Felician Village, Manitowoc from 11:00 AM until 11:45 AM.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Germaine's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of the Critical Care Unit of Holy Family Memorial for the compassionate care given to Germaine. The family also wishes to thank the staff of the Villa for all they did for Mom during the past 3 years. She so enjoyed visiting with all of them any chance she could.
