On Easter Sunday, April 5, 1931, the Death Angel visited the home of Bernard McKendree, in Huntington, and took from him his loving wife, Ollie, who has been suffering for several years from cancer. She was born April 6, 1893, and departed this life on April 5, 1931. In 1912, Feb. 27, she was married to Bernard McKendree, of Huntington, where they made their home until her death. She leaves to mourn her going, her husband, and four children, Samuel, Franklin, Ralph and Louise. She also leaves her father, mother, and several brothers and sisters and a great host of other relatives and friends. About three years ago she was converted and united with the Methodist church and lived with them until death. She was a loving wife and faithful to her family and church. While we miss sister McKendree in the earthly church, we are confident of seeing her in the church triumphant in the glory land. May the Lord bless the bereft family and may they all meet her over there. Funeral services were conducted at her old home near Sias, by Revs. J.D. Carnefix, pastor of the Smith Street M.E. Church South, Huntington Wv. assisted by E.L. Adkins and Ebb Cummings.
Dear mother, you have left us,
And the home is so bare,
But we know you're sweetly resting
In the loving Savior's care
The flowers we lay upon your grave,
May wither and decay;
But the love we have for you, dear mother,
Will never fade away.
