Lawrence B. Gillespie, 84, of Marlinton died Sept. 11, 1997, in Meadowbrook Acres Nursing Center. He was former owner of Gillespie Welding Service, Charleston, a former employee of the Kanawha County Board of Education and a member of Church of Christ, Sissonville.
Preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Cleo C Gillespie.
Surviving: wife, Genevieve P. Gillespie; son, Ivan I. of Cross Lanes; daughter, Nancy Board of Charleston; stepsons, Lawrence and Samuel Jones, both of Nitro, Curtis Jones of Gloucester, Va.; stepdaughters, Patricia Fierbaugh of Charleston, Carolyn Thayer of Gloucester; sister, Edna Mae Lynch of Orlando, Fla.; half brother, James Dean Gillespie of Cherryville, N.C.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
