On November 29, 2014, SKC Adrian J Ackerman, US Navy (Retired) reported for duty on board USS Heaven. Chief Ackerman was born in Saddle River, New Jersey on November 16, 1922 and grew up in Paterson, New Jersey. He was an avid baseball player, coach and fan. He joined the Navy at the outset of World War II and served until his retirement in 1963. His second career as an accountant stretched until the 1990's when he finally retired. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abram and Bella Ackerman, his older brother William and an infant sister. He is survived by his wife Madeline of Ocala, Florida, son David (Elizabeth Boehner) of The Villages, Florida and life-long friend William Bauman of Bay City, MI as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
