US Marine Sgt Carol Dean Dale, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Morganton, NC.

US Marine Sergeant Carol Dean Dale was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Marine Corps, SGT Dale served our country until March 18th, 1970 in Quang Nam, South Vietnam. He was 23 years old and was not married. It was reported that Carol died when his vehicle crashed. His body was recovered. SGT Dale is on panel 12W, line 017 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for 3 years.

Friend and great US MARINE: We grew up together going to the same school, same church and graduated together from Salem high School in 1966. He put his all in everyone thing he did earning high awards in football. He wanted to be a Marine and joined after high school. I was drafted in the Army. I visit his grave sometimes. He was a good friend and even though he is gone he was doing what he wanted to do, being a US MARINE. Served with Headquarters Company, 7th Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 3rd MAF.

He was awarded The Combat Action Ribbon(CAR), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal.
