Harold "Leon" Clyde


Early Life: Leon was born August 6, 1940, to William R. and Hazel Savage Clyde.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: Leon was a member of the Church of the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he humbly served in many callings including a stake missionary, Scoutmaster, branch president of the Pontiac, Illinois Branch and temple worker. He volunteered numerous hours helping others plant gardens, budget their finances and anything else that needed to be done. A graduate of the University of Utah (BS ‘64), a CMA and CPA, Leon retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company after over 30+ years of service. After retiring, he returned to Springville, Utah, where he lovingly cared for his wife and helped care for his parents. He was an avid gardener, woodworker and bicyclist. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man who always saw the best in people. Harold "Leon" Clyde passed away January 4, 2017.
Family Message: "A special thanks to his daughter Johanna, his brother Dale and sister Marietta for their devotion and unselfish help during the last few years of his life."
Survived By: His six children: Ailene O’Byrne (Clarke), Johanna Miner (Sheldon), Harold Clyde (Tamlynn), Tanya Syme (Roy), Michael Clyde (Joanne) and Ben Clyde; five brothers and sisters: Marietta Young (Norman), Dale Clyde (Ellen), Steve Clyde (Pam), Helene Arnett (Tom) and Warren Clyde (Cindy); 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Preceded In Death By: His beloved wife, Aartje (Aty) Vanderhooft; his parents; brother, Russell Clyde; and sister, Joan Wicker.
