James Henry Norton

Funeral services for James Henry Norton, 615 Johnston St. SE, who died Tuesday morning at his residence, will be Thursday at Grace Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. with Dr. Willard Stallcup officiating. Burial will be in the City Cemetery, Guntharp directing.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Henry Norton; two daughters, Mrs. O.S. Hagerman and Mrs. Frank Richards, both of Decatur; a son, James Norton, Decatur; two grandsons, Wayne Norton and Frankie Richards; three brothers, Marion Norton, Oklahoma, Herbert Norton, Nashville, Tenn. and Albert Norton, Tuscumbia; a sister, Mrs. Grady Stephenson, Decatur.

The body will remain at the funeral home until time to be carried to the church Thursday where it will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Mr. Norton was a member of Grace Baptist Church and served as a deacon and trustee of the church. He was a member of the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge, No. 29.

Deacons of Grace Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Norton, owner of Tip Top Food Store in Decatur, has been a grocery merchant in the city since 1908.
