Sylva - Mae Snyder Bryson, 88, of the Addie Community, died Sunday, January 14, 2007, at Harris Regional Hospital, after a period of declining health.

A native of Jackson County, she was a member of Buff Creek Baptist Church, where she was one of the oldest active members. She was the daughter of the late William Fortner and Laura Belle Clayton Snyder and was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde V. Bryson, who died in 2000; two brothers, William Jack and Charles Candler Snyder; two sisters, Mary Allie Snyder and Edith Belle Fortner.

Surviving is one daughter, Lydia Bryson Cope, of Sylva; one son, C. Dewey Bryson, of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Laura Cope Freeze, Kay Cope Swann, Larry Lee Cope, William Joshua Bryson, Sr., and Jeremiah Dean Bryson; andseven great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 2 P.M., Wednesday, at Buff Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Morris officiating. Burial will be in Addie Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., Tuesday at Melton-Riddle Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
