Her parents both died when she was 5 and she was raised by her maternal grandmother, Johanna Auguste (Edom) Summerer in Newark, New Jersey.
During the war she worked for New Jersey Bell as an Operator
Mabel married Kenneth Watterson Dorman 25 Mar 1946 in East Orange, New Jersey.
They moved to Chamblee, Ga. in 1956, where she live until the time of her death.
She volunteered as a "pink lady" at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, and was a wonderful grandmother to her grandsons, David and Brian Kelly.
She passed away gently in her sleep at her home of an aortic aneurysm.
They had two children:
1948--Barbara Jean Dorman (Kelly)
1953--Gary Kenneth Dorman
