Jerald W. Buettner, 65, of 6563 S. Monitor Road died Tuesday, May 2, at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Services will be at 10:30 a. m. Friday at St. Leo's Catholic Church. The Rev. Robert Rooney will officiate. burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Kleine Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to a scholarship fund in Mr. Buettner's name.

Mr. Buettner was born Sept. 4, 1929, in Grand Island to William H. and Ruth L. Howell Buettner. He graduated from high school in 1947. He spent three years in the U. S. Coast Guard as an electronics technician. He farmed after the service.

He married Mary Ann Mattea on Oct. 15, 1955, in Fullerton. They lived southwest of Grand Island on a homestead that had been in the family for 100 years.

In addition to farming, he also worked at Lawson Communications and later at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant as an electronics technician.

He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, Platt-Duetsche, Eagles, Farmers Union Head 92 and a lifetime member of the Northwest FFA Alumni and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was active in education in District 23, serving on the board of education for many years, was instrumental in forming Northwest High School and served on the original board of education.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, William and James, both of Grand Island, Donald of Lincoln and Thomas of Philadelphia, Pa.; three daughters, Dr. Helen (Mrs. James Joseph) Buettner of Yardley, Pa., Rosemary Buettner of Austin, Texas, and Catherine Buettner of Philadelphia; four grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph of Holdrege and Robert of Cincinnati, Ohio; and four sisters, Beryl Martens, Bernadine (Mrs. Milo) Kozak and Catherine (Mrs. Hugh) Miner Sr., all of Grand Island, and Jeanne Shedden of Oklahoma city, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Daniel.
