Johnny “Red” Boozer, 82, of Orange, Texas, passed away on January 4, 2017, in Beaumont, Texas.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2017, at McClelland Church Cemetery in Shelby County, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Larry Askew.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Shelby County, Texas, on July 7, 1934, he was the son of Weldon and Alice Boozer. Red worked as a boilermaker for Boilermakers Local 587. He was a loving and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Thurman Boozer.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Merline Boozer; children, Mike Boozer and wife Patricia, Leisha Cassidy and husband Jimmy, Harold Boozer and wife Brenda, and John Boozer; grandchildren, Michael Boozer, Jr. and wife, Colleen, Jennifer VanWright, Monica Johnson and husband, Kovan, Kyle Cassidy and wife, Tera, Amanda Istre, Chris Boozer and wife, Haley, and Leanne Fuselier and husband, Bryant; along with 10 great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Boozer, Harold Boozer, John Boozer, Chris Boozer, Kyle Cassidy, Michael Boozer, Jr., Jimmy Cassidy, and Kovan Johnson.
