Robert Andrew “Andy” Petit, Sr., 82, of Archer City, Texas passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016, at his residence.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at the Archer City Cemetery with Roger Deerinwater of Archer City officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Andy was born November 30, 1933 in Antelope, Texas to George Washington Petit and Viola Duran Petit.
He married Emma Lee Reynolds on February 21, 1955 in Stephens County, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on April 30, 1998. He then married Launell Matthews on June 20, 2003. She preceded him in death on July 23, 2010.
Andy was a heavy equipment operator, who loved the maintainer the best, for Texas Department of Transportation in Archer City. He retired after thirty-eight years of service having earned multiple pins and safe driving awards. Andy loved to fish.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Petit, Mickel Petit and wife, Tina and David Petit; one daughter, Peggy Jones all of Archer City; three sisters, Ruby Hopkins of Archer City, Dee Overbay and husband Lee of Boise City, Oklahoma, and Corine Bettencourt of Madisonville, Kentucky; one brother, C. W. Petit of Wheeler, Texas; ten grandchildren, Carl, Crystal, Becky, Trecia, William, Dionecia, Michelle, Donovan, Rex and Dawnelle; numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by three great-granddaughters, twins, Jesika Darlene and Joni Dawn Jones on August 24, 2003 and Jailey Gail Petit on May 16, 2014.
