Wilma Jean "Tootsie" Berrier Rickels, age 84 of Seymour, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017. Jean was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church where she worked in the daycare for 30 years. She was known as "Miss Jean". Jean was a dedicated VOL and Lady Vols Fan. She was a loving mother and Mamaw. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Rickels, her parents Rev. Jean & Gertrude Berrier, and her bothers, Ray Lee "Pete" Berrier and Grant Lincoln "Joe" Berrier, and her brothers-in-law, Bill Mellon, Kenneth & (wife) Lucille Rickels, W. L. "Junior" Rickels, and Herbert Rickels. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law: Steve & Jodie Rickels, Donald Rickels, Richard & Teresa Rickels, and Greg & Karen Rickels; grandchildren: David & Anna Rickels, William Rickels, Whitney & Ronnie Hanline, Derrick & Alli Rickels; Sister, Clara Mellon; sisters-in-law: Dolly Berrier, Doris Berrier, and Pat Rickels Dampman; Brother-in law: Harold & (wife) Dee Rickels and several loving nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 7:00pm at Valley Grove Baptist Church, 9000 Sevierville Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee, 37920. Rev. Matthew Hampton and Rev. Keith Vaughan will be officiating. Family and friends will meet Wednesday, January 4th at Berry Highland South Cemetery for a 10:00am interment service.
