Efforts have been made to discover more about John Hartnet so that Sarah could be sealed to her husband and possible children. There were no marriage records that early in Summit or Wasatch counties. There are no Hartnets listed in local military records. There are no Hartnets listed in the LDS Park City ward. They are not listed as a family in the Midway ward. Hartnets are absent in county history books of Wasatch. The name Hartnet does not appear in the 1880 U.S. census. The only time his name occurs is as Sarah's husband on her cemetery record, and on the Midway ward records, it states that Sarah Maria md John Hartnet and they moved to Grassvalley, Piute Co., Ut. That area was the Koosharem ward. They were never recorded members of that ward.
