Jane Ellen Hubbell, 76, of 929 Louise Ave., died early Sunday morning at Lancaster General Hospital after an illness. She was under the care of a physician.

A psychologist, Mrs. Hubbell formerly worked as a psychological associate with the Wernersville Hospital, the Delaware State Hospital and the Mental Health and Mental Retardation Center in Lancaster.

She had also worked with mentally retarded and alcohol and drug patients in state mental hospitals.

She was also a certified school guidance counselor and Pennsylvania school psychologist.

She was a member of the American Psychological Association.

Mrs. Hubbell was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Lancaster, the Iris Club, the Town Club and the Donegal chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She received a degree in education from the former Millersville State Teachers' College in 1946, a degree in English from Ursinus College in 1949 and a master's in psychology from Temple University in 1956.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Herbert S. and Nellie M. Hower Hubble.

She was the last of her immediate family.
