Frank Allen Ponath of Plano, Texas passed away on December 28, 2016 at the age of 85. He was born on August 1, 1931 to Helmuth Otto and Thelma Jewel (Dinwiddie) Ponath in Bonham, Texas. Frank married Bettye Jean Eldridge on December 22, 1951 in Bonham. He worked for Texas New Mexico Power as a lineman/serviceman. Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He is survived by his son, Danny Ponath and wife, Shari of Anna; daughters, Sherrie Samari and husband, Rezvan of Lewisville, Deborah Dotson and husband, David of Highland Village; granddaughters, Randa Parker, Brandi Kavanaugh, Wendi Kavanaugh, Emily Stewart, Jenny Rowley; grandson, Brian Dotson; six great-grandchildren; brother, Bobby Ponath; sister, Ann Kinkade; and numerous other loving family and friends.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Bettye Jean Ponath; his parents; and brother, Bill Dinwiddie.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in Allen. Interment will follow at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
