Family and friends will celebrate the life of Millard Connelius Humphrey, 78, with a service at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel followed with the burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Oakwood, Texas.
He was born to Henry and Ruth Gilmore Humphrey. He served our nation honorably in the US Navy from 1956-1975. Following his retirement as a Chief Petty Officer, he earned Bachelor and Master degrees from Tarleton State University and subsequently taught high school Agriculture in Lingleville, Huckaby, and Oakwood, Texas. He also taught Industrial Technology at Westwood Jr. Hugh in Palestine, Texas until his retirement in 1996.
Millard had an unwavering passion for educating and developing young men and women along with coaching youth sports, Future Farmers of America (FFA) competitions and taking every available opportunity to mentor youth in participation of community activities.
He keaves behind his wife of 32 years, Cathy Johnson Humphrey; his children, Jimmy Humphrey (Desiree); daughter Deanna Humphrey Greens; and three stepchildren he considered his own, Kyle Johnson (Aimee), Timothy Johnson (Heather) and Dana Johnson Rosen (Stuart); 12 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his sister, Lisa Elliott and numerous nieces and nephews.
