Glen married Wilma Grace Parker on January 14, 1939, at Osceola, Iowa. They have been married for sixty-nine years. Glen joined the United States Navy and served from May 4, 1944, until November 18, 1945 during World War II.
Glen farmed and raised livestock all of his life. Glen lived in Clarke and Union County most of his life. In 1950, Glen and Wilma moved to a farm northeast of Creston in Union County. Glen and Wilma moved to Creston in 1981. Glen was a longtime member and former Commander of the VFW Post.
