Earl E. Farrar , 84, of Springfield, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 19, 2016. He was born Dec. 1, 1931, in Pleasant View, Ill., to Clarence and Alpha (Allen) Farrar . He married Patricia Settles in 1952 and she preceded him in death Aug. 26, 1996. He then married Elizabeth Ziegler in 1997 and she preceded him in death on March 19, 2016. Also preceding him in death was a daughter-in-law, Carolyn. Surviving are five children, nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, three stepchildren, several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Earl was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He retired from Illinois Bell where he was a supervisor. He was a pilot, flight instructor and a U.S. Air Force veteran. The family is hosting a gathering from 8 a.m. until time of services at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Joshua Traxel officiating.
