Rites Set for Thomas Irving. 99. Retired Engineer
Funeral services for Thomas Irving, 88, a retired construction engineer of the City Building Department, will be held in Forkner’s chapel, with burial in Washelli.
Mr. Irving died Sunday in a nursing home. A native of Carlisle, England, he came to the USA in 1890. He worked with the Army Engineers for many years.
Mr. Irving came to Seattle in 1897. He was in charge of the soundings and survey of Lake Washington and road construction work in Mount Rainier National Park before he joined the Seattle Building Department in 1935. He lived at 4748 19th Ave. N. E.
Mr. Irving was a member of University Lodge No. 141, F. & A. M. and the First Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife Jessie T.; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret I. Reese, Seattle; and Mrs. Helen C. Burnett, Olympia; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
