Retired Tech Sergeant Monroe "Monty" Frank Porter, 83, of Tifton passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Southern Care Assisted Living in Tifton. A graveside funeral service will be held for TSGT Porter at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Tift Memorial Gardens, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors. A eulogy and prayer will be given by Chris Greene. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 27, 2015, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Military personnel will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Porter was born February 28, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Donald Porter, Sr. and Grace India Porter, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Porter, Jr., Robert Porter and Frank Porter. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1972 with tours in Germany and Vietnam. After retirement, he was employed with Sutton Systems Sales, Inc. until 2013. Mr. Porter was of the Catholic faith.

Mr. Porter is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kathryn McCrary Porter of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Nancy Porter of Punta Gorda, Florida; special friend and caregiver, Joyce Hill, Chris Greene, Wesley and Elaine Belk and nurses at Southern Care Assisted Living and Tift Regional Medical Center.
