Davie Lee Avery, 87, of Newkirk, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, in Alliance Health Ponca City.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. today, Dec. 22, in Miller-Stahl Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Susan Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
The son of Samuel Clyde and Jane Dell (Rothrock) Avery, Davie Lee was born Nov. 2, 1929, in Blackwell, Okla. He grew up in the Peckham, Okla., area.
He delivered the Newkirk Herald Journal for a number of years. In June 2011, Davie Lee retired from the newspaper business due failing health.
Survivors include numerous nephews and nieces including those in this area: Bernard Brown, Herb Neal, Beverly Pedigo, Carla Sattre and Monica McChristian.
