Alvin L. Baker, 93, Marion, went to be with the Lord December 19, 2016, at Colonial Oaks Health Care and Rehab in Marion. He was born in Marion to the late Oliver Henry and Beulah (Mumford) Baker. On June 5, 1943, Alvin married Mildred Wearley, and they shared 65 years together until the Lord called her to heaven on September 14, 2008.

Alvin was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Okinawa. Following his military service, he worked as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service for 31 years. Alvin's service to his country, however, carried over into service to his community. He was actively involved with delivering meals to individuals in their homes through Meals on Wheels. He was a member of the Lions Club, volunteered at Colonial Oaks, and served with the Gideons. Alvin also knew the importance of missions and faithfully supported the ministries at Oklahoma Indian Missions. He was a member of Hanfield UMC Born Campus.

He had a TV repair business and he loved to do woodworking and go camping with his family.
