Parents: Ray Kenneth and Marguerite Rebecca Powell Carter

Sonny joined the US Army in 1962 and served as a Specialist 4th Class with the 11th Infantry, 5th Infantry Division based at Fort Carson, Colorado prior to his discharge in 1963.

He was retired from Roots Blower and had worked at the Connersville Casket Company. He was employed at the American Legion as bartender at the time of his death.

He was a member of American Legion, AMVETS, V. F. W. and Eagles and was a former member off the Moose Lodge and 40et 8. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was a fan of auto racing with Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio being his favorite track.

He is survived by his children, Matthew L. Carter and Janell S. Isaacs; Siblings: Becky L. Chaney (Robert) and Harold Carter (Phyllis); 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; several neices and nephews.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, infants Darlene and Kay Carter, Phyllis Ann Hall and Carolyn Sue Powell. His wife, Ruth Ann Cox Carter, whom he married July 2, 1966 and passed away July 26, 1987.
