Louis Chappell Newhall (1869-1925) studied at Tufts College (now University) and Boston Tech, and worked for several years as a draftsman before winning the Rotch Traveling Scholarship in 1898. Upon his return from Europe, he entered into partnership with Albert Blevins (1874-1946). Among the firm's many commissions were the Boston City Club (1916) and the William Lloyd Garrison School at 20 Hutchings St. in Roxbury; plus several apartment houses, the YMCA building (1912), Cambridge Savings Bank (1923) and the Harvard St. Lutheran Church in Cambridge.
