Obituary for Alice Mae Johnson
Alice Johnson, age 83 of Albia, passed away December 17, 2016 at her home under the care of HCI Hospice.
Alice was born April 6, 1933, to Arlo and Mary (Bell) Selix in Blakesburg, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Carl Johnson on November 22, 1950 in Ottumwa, Iowa. To this union 5 children were born, Mary, Chuck, Donna, John, and Wanda. Alice and Carl had 55 wonderful years of marriage until Carl’s passing on July 1, 2006.
Alice was a homemaker, a house wife, and was always involved with her grandchildren’s activities. She enjoyed bowling and played on several different leagues in various places in Nebraska. Her real joy in life was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Alice is survived by her five children, Mary (Jeff Pasa) Belzer of Avery, IA, Chuck (Nancy) Johnson of Blakesburg, IA, Donna (Roy) Miller of Moravia, IA, John (Susan) Johnson of Omaha, NE, and Wanda (Terry) Proctor of Unionville, IA; her brother, Ronnie Selix of Omaha, NE; her sister-in-law and best friend, Pauline Selix of Albia, IA. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Johnson; her parents, Arlo and Mary; her grandparents; two brothers, Ray and Roy Selix; a grandson, Nicholas Johnson and a great granddaughter, Addison Lorraine Nicole Johnson.
As per Alice’s wishes her body has been cremated and there are no services planned at this time.
A memorial has been established to HCI Care services of South Central Iowa. Cards and memorials may be sent to 222 2nd Avenue East, Albia, Iowa, 52531.
