Francis Eli Becker, 93, of Wellston, OK passed away peacefully December 15, 2016, surrounded by his family in Checotah, OK.    Francis, always known as "Becker" was born July 23, 1923 in Wellston, OK to Walter and Russia Becker. He was the second eldest of eleven siblings.

While farming, raising cattle and gardening were his passion, Becker started his early work career in the oilfield.  He then owned "Becker's" gas station in Wellston. Later he worked for and retired from Harmon Construction Company, Oklahoma City, OK, after 30 years as a warehouse manager.

He was a member & trustee of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wellston, and later attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Eufaula, OK, after his move to Checotah.  He served on the Wellston Board of Education where he also attended school, and was a member of the Wellston Masonic Lodge #369 for 63 years.

Francis is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Helen of 54 years, son and daughter-in-law, David & Norma Becker and granddaughter, Jenna Russell, four brothers, William, Walter Jr, Merle & Marion, and two sisters, Mary & Lucille.  

Francis loved and enjoyed his family and is survived by his children, Frances and her husband Tommy Christy of Checotah, OK; Bob Becker and his wife Phyllis of Wellston, OK.; Deanna  and her husband Kenny Johnson of Edmond, OK;  Six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, three brothers, Leo, Donal & Charles, and one sister, Nancy. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, who were very special to him, as well as other family and friends.

A funeral service and celebration of life ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2016 in the Lehman Funeral Home chapel with interment following at the Lutheran Cemetery.  The family sincerely thanks the Compassus Hospice organization for their assistance in keeping our daddy comfortable in his last days. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
