Edgar Bagby Jr., 73, North Wooldridge Road, died Tuesday morning at Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home following an illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home, with the Rev. John R. Christian officiating. Burial will be in Cerulean Cemetery.

A native of Trigg County, he was born Aug. 13, 1924, the son of the late Edgar Bagby Sr. and Irma Stewart Bagby.
He had owned the One Stop Shop at Canton for a number of years, as well of Bagby's Grocery in Cerulean.
He was a member of Second Baptist Church
His first wife, Mary "Tiny" Shelton Bagby died in 1970.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Armstrong Bagby, two daughters, Brenda Kay Bagby Graham, Virginia Beach, Va., Gina "Melissa" Russell, Hopkinsville, a son, Jason Edgar Bagby, and a step-son, Mike Norfleet, Nashville, Tn, and a sister, Barbara Jean Bagby Hendricks, Hopkinsville.
Four grandchildren, Scott and Eric Graham, Matthew and Kaci Russell, two step-granddaughters, Keri and Lindsay Norfleet.
And an uncle to Jeff and Beverly Hendricks. He became a great-uncle July 28, 1992 to Cail Knight, son of Beverly. Cail thought Uncle Jr hung the moon. He also has two great-nieces now, Aubry Michele and Makenna Layne Hendricks, daughters of Jeff and his wife Stacy, along with a new granddaughter, Tristan Brooke Bagby, born to Jason and his wife Tana, and a great-granddaughter, Dillan Nicole, born to Eric Graham and Nikki.

Uncle Jr was a kind, caring, sweet, soft spoken soul. Always helping others in their time of need, never asking for anything in return.

He is greatly missed.
