Obituary:
Edna P. Vaughn, age 85, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2006. Edna lived life on her own terms. Born July 22, 1920 on a farm in Mulberry Grove, IL, she married Carl Vaughn of Greenville, IL, on October 16, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY, where Carl was serving on the Battle ship, USS Texas. Following World War II, Carl enlisted in the USAF. During their 53 years of mar riage, Edna and Carl lived in Illinois, Massachusetts, Bermuda, Hawaii and Florida, finally settling in Satellite Beach, FL in 1961. In retirement, Edna and Carl traveled to all 50 states in their RV. Recently, Ednas love of travel took her to more than 10 countries in Europe and Asia. Edna and Carls happy union produced a son, John Carl Vaughn, Capt., US Army Special Forces, and a daughter, Dixie Lee Vaughn, Special Agent, FBI, retired. Edna is survived by her sister, Dorothy Chasey of Smithboro, IL; daughter, Dixie Lee Vaughn of Satellite Beach, FL; granddaughters, Carlia V. Padilla of Coconut Creek, FL, Joni V. Reilly of Wellington, FL, and Jon Allison Shuttleworth of San Francisco, CA; five great grandchildren, and friend, Frank Holmgren of Satellite Beach. Ednas generosity made possible the education of her children and grandchildren. Her passing leaves us with thankfulness for having had the privilege of having known her. A local visitation will be held July 5, 2006 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Beach Funeral Home, S. Patrick Dr., Indian Harbour Beach, FL. Edna will be buried July 11, 2006 with her husband, Carl Vaughn, USAF, retired, and son, John Carl Vaughn, US Army Special Forces, deceased, at Arlington National Cemetery. She will spend eternity beside her beloved husband and son in this beautiful site located near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Edna invites visitors to Arlington National Cemetery to stop by her grave to share a smile. Beach Funeral Home East Chapel in Indian Harbour Beach is entrusted with arrangements.
