Ruth Isadora Tracy was born in Lawrenceville, Lawrence Co., Illinois on Jan. 1, 1907. She was the daughter of William "Will" Tracy (1871-1942) and Essie A. Seed (1876-1949), the third of their three known children. She was probably named after Sarah Isadora "Sadie" Mieure (1859-1940), a paternal aunt who had been like a mother to Ruth's father after his biological mother had died when he was just eight months old.

Ruth's father, Will, was born in Lawrenceville, the son of Edward "Ed" Tracy (1844-1903) and Mary Jane Mieure (1850-1872), both buried in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Ed was born in Vincennes, Knox Co., Indiana while Mary Jane was born in Lawrenceville.
Ruth's paternal grandfather, Ed, was the son of Alvin Waterman Tracy (1807-1851) and Lucinda Thorn (1811-1965), the eight of their eleven known children. Both are buried in the Greenview Cemetery in Vincennes, IN.

Mary Jane, Essie's paternal grandmother, was the daughter of Guillaume (French for William) Henri "A.J." Mieure (1824-1861) and Sarah Isabel Fyffe (1830-1878). She was also a great-granddaughter of Toussaint Dubois (1753-1816).

Ruth's mother, Essie, was born and raised in Lawrenceville, Lawrence Co., Illinois. She was the daughter of James Andrew Seed (1849-1925) and Susan Jane Gray (1849-1885). Like her husband, Will, she is buried in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.

On June 31, 1931, Ruth married Walter Alden Emmons (1906-1973) in Lawrenceville, IL. He was 25, she 24. He was the son of William Alden Emmons (1876-1968) and Estella Lindsay (1874-1960), both natives of Illinois and both buried in the Emmons Cemetery located in the little Illinois community of Birds in Lawrence County. Ruth and Walter were married for nearly 42 years and had three known children: William James Emmons (1933-1933), Carol Lee Emmons (1934-) and Jack Allen Emmons (1939-).

Ruth's husband, Walter, died in Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana on April 11 1973 at the age of 67. He is buried in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery in Lawerenceville, IL.

Ruth died on Jan 25, 2002 at the age of 95 in Mt. Camel, Wabash Co., IL. At the time of her death she was living in the Oakview Heights Nursing Home. She too, is buried in the Lawrenceville City Cemeterty., next to her husband, Walter.
