Edmund Arthur Arndorfer, age 91, of Manitowoc, passed away at The Villas at Felician Village on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. Ed was born on September 23, 1925 in Cuba City, to the late Arthur and Mildred (Sullivan) Arndorfer. He graduated from Central Catholic High School (now Notre Dame Academy), Green Bay in 1944 and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from St. Norbert College, De Pere in 1949. He was inducted into the Golden Knights Society of St. Norbert College in 1999. On October 7, 1950, he married Corinne Ann Palmer at Annunciation Church, Green Bay. Ed knew he wanted to be a journalist from a very young age. He began his career working on the company newsletter at Fort Howard Paper Company in Green Bay. In 1953 Ed and Corinne moved to Antigo where he worked as a reporter for the Antigo Daily Journal. Three years later they moved to Manitowoc, where Ed started a 36 year career at the Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter. He was also a regular contributor of feature articles to the Milwaukee Journal and weekly local sports news to the Sheboygan Press. Ed had a talent for engaging people in conversation throughout his life by using his well honed interviewing skills. After retiring in 1992, he was a dedicated volunteer at Shady Lane and Holy Family Hospital for many years. Throughout the years, Ed enjoyed playing softball, golfing, square dancing and ballroom dancing with Corinne. He was an avid follower of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Badgers. Ed had a wealth of knowledge about teams and their players and loved talking with fellow sports fans. During his time at the Villa, he enjoyed playing Sheepshead and Bingo regularly, exercise classes weekly, musical programs offered in the Village Hall and especially visiting with his caregivers. In most recent years, he looked forward to and treasured weekly visits from his children as well as family gatherings and holidays.Survivors include five children, Brian (Rhonda) Arndorfer, Merrill, Ann Arndorfer Lalko, Manitowoc, Patty Arndorfer, Sun Prairie, Ellen Arndorfer (Bill Humphrey), Viroqua, Abbie (Mark) Huebner, Appleton, ten grandchildren, Bridget (Nick) Paulson, Lisa Courchaine, Katie Arndorfer, Abby (Gus) Cunningham, Alex (Jasper) Hartinger, Tom (Toni) Frazier, Forrest and Corin Humphrey, Jenna and Coley Huebner, three great-grandchildren Devon Laine, Mac, Grafton, a sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Norm Ahles. Special family friends Gary Coenen, Ben Warwick, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Corinne in 2014, a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Don Hoida, a brother and sister-in-law, John and Mary Jane Arndorfer.Funeral services will be held at 12:15 PM on Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Blessed Angela Chapel at Felician Village, 1635 South 21st Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
