Born Oct. 20, 1888, Mt. Sterling, Cache County, to Robert and Mary Ellen Barnes Baxter. Married Norma Olsen Sept. 22, 1922, in Logan LDS Temple; she died June 17, 1957. Active in church; charter member, Hyrum Lions Club; member city council; rancher and cattle buyer. Survivors: sons, John Alsen, Brigham City; Jay Darwin, San Jose, Calif.; Robert La Mar, Vallejo, Calif.; Dean D., Wood Cross; Garth, Jackson, Wyo.; 15 grandchildren; sisters, brother, Mrs. James (Jane) Maughan, Wellsville; Mrs. George (Harriett) Gunnell, Huntington Park, Calif.' and J. Merrill Baxter, Hyrum. Friends call Thompson Funeral Home Friday, 7-9 p.m., Saturday after 11 a.m. Burial, family plot, Hyrum City Cemetery.
