David Jackson was the son of James Alfred Leathers, born in South Carolina about 1775, and his first wife, Elizabeth Forrester. David Jackson married Catherine Phillips in 1837 in Williamson Co., Tennessee. They had five children: William Newton, Samantha, John Martin, Frances and Margaret.
