Ethel's mother died when she was young and her father remarried to Annie Elizabeth "Bettie" Caler on January 17, 1903 when Ethel was just 2 years old. Ethel's father, Stephen, died when she was 13 years old. Ethel's stepmother, Annie, then moved the family to Texas. Annie married C. C. Guttery in 1917. The family, including stepdaughter Ethel Lancaster, is shown on the 1920 Texas Census, Lamar Co., J. P. 8.
Ethel Elizabeth Lancaster married Ira Lynch in 1921. They had a son Tom Lynch in 1923 in Oklahoma. Ethel & Ira Lynch then divorced.
Ethel (Lancaster) Lynch married Samuel Osborne Young in 1929. The family is listed on the 1930 Texas Census, Navarro Co., Prec. 8. Ethel and Sam did not have any children together.
