Ernest Ralph Berry, 87, of Brooks, died Saturday evening at the Springfield Center at Landside, following a long illness.

Born December 10, 1919 in Raleigh Co. near Hinton, he was the son of the late Sampson and Viola Plumley Berry.

Mr. Berry was a former timberman and a former window factory worker for the Graham Window Co., he was an Army veteran of WWII.

Preceded in death by four brothers; Lewis, Calvin, Julian and Freddie Berry and one sister; Goldie Berry Smith.

Survived by his wife of 56 years, Jessie Margaret Richmond Berry, three sons; Charles Berry of Brooks, Curtis Berry and wife Juanita of Freezeland Mt. and Ralph Berry of Irish Mt. Road, two daughters; Edith Lilly and husband Kevin of Forest Hill and Judy Adkins and husband Seymore of Freezeland Mt., eight grandchildren, three great granddaughters, two brothers; Stanley R. Berry and wife Crystal Evelene of Bozoo and Arnold Berry and wife Pearl of Brooks, three sisters Effie McKinzie of Coal City, and Ada Mae and Jane Ward both of Hix, three sisters-in-law; Anna, Betty and Virginia Berry.

Private services and burial will be held at the family's discretion at a later date.
