Memorial services for Opal A. Johnson Ard and Elvin S. Johnson, both of Longview, will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2008, at Longview First Church, with the Rev. James Renfro Jr. officiating.
Opal passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2008, and Elvin passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2008, in Longview.
Opal was born December 11, 1921, in Leesville, LA, to Sam and Eva (Bradley) Williams. Elvin was born January 23, 1917, in Oakdale, LA to Scott and Cassie Johnson.
Opal married Elvin Scottie Johnson and later moved to Texas. They both enjoyed gardening, and they would sell what they grew to the community. Elvin was an ordained Pentecostal minister. They had six children.
Survivors include their only daughter, Cassie Evans and husband, Andy, of Longview; five sons, Nobby Johnson of Needville, Texas, Edwin Johnson and wife Raynell, Jimmy Johnson and wife, Kathy, Bruce Johnson and wife, Peggy, of Jacksonville, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Opal was preceded in death by her brothers, James and Huey P. Williams; and one sister, Lola Freeman.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
