Obituary: Jefferson City, Mo. newspaper, Sunday, March 24, 1935

TUSCUMBIA, Mo., March 23 – Alex McClain pioneer citizen passed away Friday, March 15 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ivy Hendricks, near Brumley. Mr. McClain was born February 2, 1855, four miles south of Tuscumbia, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton McClain.

He was married to Ella Esther McCommons January 5, 1876, and by this union there are eleven surviving children.

She preceded him in death six years ago. The children left to mourn his death are Mrs Frank (May) Coburn, San Diego, Cal.; Wm. C. McClain, Brumley; Mrs. Lena Keeth, Skiatook, Okla.; L. T. McClain, Shirley, Ark.; J. Milton McClain, Enid, Okla.; Mrs. Moles, Las Vegas, Nevada; Mrs. Elzer (Eunice) Goodnut, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Alice Null, Poplar Bluff; Mrs. Ira (Berniece) Griffin, Stonington, (state not readable), and Mrs. Ivy (Ruby) Hendricks, Brumley. He is also survived by two half sisters and two half brothers.

Funeral services were conducted at the Gott Church on Sunday afternoon by Rev. Phillips of Iberia. Burial was in Gott cemetery beside his wife.
