Mr. Bingham died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007 at his home.
He was born in Haskell, Texas on Sept. 22, 1916. Bing grew up in Spur and graduated from Spur High School. He received both a bachelorís and masterís degree from Texas Tech University, where he also played football, lettering 1939-1941. He served in the US Army Air Corps in the European Theatre during WWII. Bing married Jean Casey on Jan. 27, 1946 in Lubbock. He coached in Post and Slaton and then worked in the insurance business for ten years in Lubbock. Bing then returned to coaching and administration, retiring as principal in Slaton. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, ìDouble Tî Association, the Texas Tech Alumni Association, Red Raider Club, Retired Teachersí Association, and served as President for the Lionís Club in Slaton.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; a son, Mike and wife Sharon of Lubbock; a daughter, Barbara Elliott of Lubbock; three grandchildren, John Elliott and wife Cherissa of Frisco, Melody Bingham of San Antonio and Michael Dale Bingham of Dallas; and a brother, Rogers Bingham and wife Mae of McKinney.
He is preceded in death by three sisters, Rosie Friels, Bea Steele and Iona Thomasson; four brothers, Albert N. ìAbbî Bingham, Thomas Bingham, Doyle Bingham and Billy Dan Bingham and a son-in-law, David Elliott.
