Rick, 71, Celina, died at the Hospice Care Center.

He was the son of William C. and Bengaline (Leever) Bachelor. He first married Sherrill A. Williams, who preceded him in death. On Aug 6, 1983, he married Jeanette Post, who survives in Celina.

Also surviving are three children: Jason Dorsten and Evin Bachelor, both Celina, and Erin (Chad) Luebke, Las Vegas, NV; a brother, Steven (Terri), Vandalia; a sister, Toni (Frank) Goodwin, Dayton; mother-in-law, Ruth Williams, Centerville; and a granddaughter.

Deceased are parents-in-law: DeAlt Williams and Anthony and Mary Post.

A 1963 graduate of Northridge High School, he served as Class President and excelled at a number of sports. He received a Political Science degree and played football at Coe College, Cedar Rapids, IA, or as he would call it, the “Harvard of the Midwest.” He then pursued graduate studies at the University of Tennessee. From 1968 to 1971, he taught history and coached football and basketball at Dixie High School, New Lebanon. He then served as the Assistant Director for the Montgomery County Recreation Department in Dayton until 1979. After moving to Celina, he served as the Office and General Manager for the John W. Karch Stone Company, and then worked in sales and public/customer relations at Stoneco, Inc. In 1992, he was elected to the Celina City Council, a post he held until serving as the city’s Safety Service Director from 2009 to 2011. One of his favorite jobs was taking tickets at Celina football and basketball games, where no one was a stranger. He was very active in a number of community organizations, including the Celina/Mercer County Chamber of Commerce, the Lake Development Corporation. He also served as Treasurer for the Ohio Processed Limestone Association and as a member of the Finance Committee of his church, St. Paul’s United Methodist, Celina, where he taught Sunday School for a number of years. He loved the Celina Bulldogs, the Cincinnati Reds, the Cleveland Browns, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing softball. His favorite pastimes were taking family trips, reading, and winning at video poker.

Services will be at St. Paul’s (Grand Lake) United Methodist Church, Celina, with Rev. Matt Reynolds officiating. Private burial will be held at Arlington Cemetery, Brookville.
