Veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Colonel, United States Army (retired). Participated in 4 major battles in Europe through France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany, commanding an infantry battalion and later an infantry regiment of the 94th Infantry Division. Recipient of the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, and the French Croix de Guerre with Palm. Also served as an operations officer for the Nuremberg Trials. Retired in July 31, 1968. Graduate of Texas A & M University (Class of 1939). Preceded in death by his parents, Otto Bismark and Lyda Owens Cloudt, Sr.; and his wife, Latrelle Gray Coundt in September 2000.
